We are currently hiring for a full time permanent Staff Accountant for our client, a full-service tax advisory firm that provides Canadian domestic/international tax planning and tax dispute advice to clients throughout Canada and internationally. They are growing and looking for a Staff Accountant with bookkeeping experience with an interest in taxation to join their team.
They counsel and support clients in matters regarding their tax and estate planning. They pride themselves in tackling the most challenging problems and providing solutions which are effective for clients. Their team includes experienced professionals, including Chartered Professional Accountants and lawyers focused on client needs in a holistic manner.
The Opportunity
They are seeking an experienced staff accountant for their Oakville office location. This position offers excellent opportunities for learning to the right candidate. They are seeking candidates who can fulfill the following responsibilities and qualifications. Approximately half of the Staff Accountant's time will be spent on traditional accounting responsibilities, while the remaining time will be spent on tax advisory/planning support which provides a learning opportunity for accounting professionals looking to learn new skills and grow professionally.
Your Key Responsibilities
Prepare trial balance, reconcile accounts, post journal entries, maintain general ledgers and internal financial statements.
Prepare supporting documents and working papers
Support tax advisory/planning by preparing compliance/reporting including; journal entries, various tax elections, calculating corporations' safe income (i.e. retained earnings for tax purposes), analyzing monthly balance sheets for purpose of assessing corporations' status of a 'qualified small business corporation', correspondence to various stakeholders involved in the tax planning, etc.

For this role you -
Must be able and willing to work predominantly from the office
Have at least 2 years of previous related bookkeeping/accounting experience
Have an Diploma/degree/designation in accounting and/or tax is an asset
Come with previous experience using preparing corporate and/or personal tax returns is an asset
Have previous experience in cloud accounting software such as Quickbooks online and or Xero
Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and experience with Harvest & Karbon is a bonus
