Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Accountant to join our team. As an Accountant, you will be responsible for managing financial records, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting regulations. The ideal candidate has a strong background in accounting principles and practices, excellent analytical skills, and proficiency in accounting software.
Duties:
- Maintain the general ledger and annual working paper files for the Construction portfolio by posting year-end journal entries and preparing financial statements.
- Generate monthly and quarterly financial reports
- Perform monthly bank reconciliation and reconciliation of control accounts (accounts receivable and accounts payables) to subsidiary ledgers, intercompany balances, schedules of balance sheet accounts.
- Perform monthly HST reconciliations, file HST returns, and ensure remittances for each project on a prompt basis.
- Generate intercompany charge-back billings and reconciliations.
- Oversee accounts payable process, review purchase orders and accounts payable listing, prepare accounts payable journals, and process invoices if needed.
- Monitor financial activities and details, to ensure that all legal and regulatory requirements are met
- Research and draft new policies when needed
- Mentor staff in the Corporate Accounting area and other departments as needed
- Prepare and enter multi-currency transactions
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 7+ years’ in an accounting function.
- Experience within the construction sector would be considered an asset.
- Excellent knowledge of construction cost accounting and related financial procedures.
- Experience using Quickbooks.
- Advance knowledge in Excel
- Experience and knowledge of all aspects of year-end working papers preparation
- CPA designation is preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Solid analytical and mathematical skills.
- Meticulous attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $75,000.00-$95,000.00 per year
