Position: Chief Controller

Job Description:
We are seeking a dynamic individual to fulfill the role of Chief Controller. The successful candidate will oversee all financial activities, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strategic alignment within the organization. Reporting directly to Chief Operation Officier, this position plays a pivotal role in driving financial stability and growth.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Oversee Financial Activities: Supervise accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and financial reporting processes.
2. Strategic Analysis: Analyze sales and profit projections, adjusting budgets and forecasts as necessary to drive profitability.
3. Financial Planning: Coordinate closely with the President and other executives to develop and implement strategic financial plans.
4. Capital Management: Direct investment strategies and collaborate with financial institutions to secure additional capital as needed.
5. Policy and Control: Establish and enforce accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to maintain financial integrity.
6. Risk Management: Manage business risks and insurance requirements to safeguard company assets.
7. Resource Allocation: Allocate company funds to optimize departmental functions and enhance overall performance.
8. Financial Controls: Implement and maintain controls to ensure maximum productivity and efficiency.
9. Compliance: Ensure compliance with tax reporting and remitting requirements, including filing CRA taxes accurately.
10. Audit Oversight: Oversee year-end financial audits and other government audits to ensure regulatory compliance.
11. Budget Management: Set budgets, forecasts, and monitor variances for all departments, providing strategic guidance as needed.
12. Financial Leadership: Provide leadership in cash management, risk assessment, debt management, and capital investment.
13. Financial Analysis: Conduct comprehensive financial modeling, cost analysis, and profitability assessments.
14. Accounting Expertise: Perform accounting duties for the property company, including managing leases, rent rates, and common charges.
15. Cross-border Transactions: Manage cross-border business accounts and transactions, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Required Skills & Abilities:

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance required.
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation preferred.
- Eight to ten years of experience in financial management required.

This position requires an individual who can work independently, within tight deadlines, and preferably possesses knowledge of the trucking industry.
