OVERVIEW:
Reporting to the Controller, Commercial, the Accountant is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely completion of Halo Car Wash financial statements. The role includes providing financial reports, undertaking variance analysis, ensuring procedural documentation is up to date, ensuring reconciliations are in place, and partnering with business departments to define, measure, analyze, improve, and control processes. The successful candidate will also work with external auditors and government auditors as required.
This is a hybrid opportunity with a requirement to work in the office three (4) days per week. This individual will work in offices in Ottawa and Maxville.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Processing and reporting month-end close, including accurate and timely financial results and analysis.
- Preparing and presenting monthly reporting packages to management.
- Compiling data from accounting system to present relevant and timely weekly sales reports.
- Reconciling balance sheet accounts.
- Completing CAPEX analysis and forecasting.
- Completing cash flow forecasting, monitoring of bank covenants, and reporting packages.
- Safeguarding Company assets by ensuring proper use of the systems, and that processes and controls are recommended and implemented.
- Validating data in the operating system, to ensure reconciliation to the general ledger.
- Documenting standard operating procedures and training of colleagues to ensure consistency throughout the organization.
- Identifying and maintaining operational reporting.
- Reviewing and mapping internal controls, validation of data used for reporting, identifying key performance indicators.
- Providing timely and accurate information to Controller.
- Undertaking variance analysis to ensure a clear understanding of financial and operational results.
- Partnering with business departments to define measure, analyze, improve, and control current processes which impact customer quality and influence internal operating efficiency.
- Providing strategic analysis, as required, to drive improved decision making.
- Working with external auditors and government auditors.
- Other related duties as required or assigned.
- Duties as required or assigned such as journal entries, reconciliations.
EDUCATION & SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent business experience is required.
- CPA, CGA, or CMA designation or close to completion is an asset.
- Highly proficient with Excel at an intermediate or advanced level is required. Must be able to use pivot tables, understand and use complex formulas as required for improved efficiency.
- Knowledge of SQL and Power Point is an asset.
- Ability to present detailed financial findings to management and answer questions/provide context.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Can conform to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical and effective problem-solving capabilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Self-sufficient and self-motivated.
