The Human Resources (HR) Generalist will undertake a variety of Human Resources duties and will be responsible for facilitating daily HR functions such as keeping track of employees’ records (hard and soft copies), updating HR databases using Ceridian Dayforce, payroll administration, attendance tracking and supporting the day-to-day functions of the department. This role, also, involves performing tasks with a focus to grow our company’s talent pipeline and improve our onboarding process. The HR Generalist will have a broad knowledge of Human Resources responsibilities working autonomously and efficiently to ensure the end-to-end running of HR projects and operations. Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities:
Payroll
· Update payroll, time & attendance, and Dayforce records by entering changes in exemptions, insurance coverage RRSP deductions, job title, shift, department transfers, and employment status
· Ensure vacation pay is properly accrued and paid
· Resolve payroll discrepancies
· Process payroll using Ceridian system for hourly and salaried employees
· Maintain records of personnel-related data (payroll, personal information, leaves, turnover rates etc.) in both paper and the database and ensure all employment requirements are met
Human Resources
· Respond to internal and external HR related inquiries or requests and provide assistance
· Redirect HR related calls or distribute correspondence to the appropriate person of the team
· Liaise with other departments
· Responsible for the recruitment and onboarding process, including job postings, screening resumes, and conducting interviews.
· Performing background checks, assisting in shortlisting, issuing employment contracts
· Updating and creating job descriptions for hourly and salaried positions
· Assist in the development/updates of company policies and procedures.
· Coordinate employee benefits administration, including enrollment, changes, and terminations.
· Responsible for the attendance management process, including tracking and disciplinary actions.
· Responsible for WSIB Claims management
· Assist supervisors in performance management procedures
· Schedule meetings, interviews, HR events etc. and maintain the team’s agenda
· Coordinate training sessions and seminars
· Perform orientations, onboarding and update records for new hires
· Produce and submit report on general HR activity
· Support other functions as assigned.
Knowledge, Qualifications, and Skill Requirements:
· 5+ years’ experience in a human resources
· Knowledge of human resources processes and best practices
· Strong ability in using MS Office (MS Excel and MS PowerPoint, in particular)
· Experience with HR databases and HRIS systems (e.g. Ceridian)
· In-depth understanding of sourcing tools, like resume databases and online communities
· Familiarity with social media recruiting
· Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
· Ability to handle data with confidentiality
· Good organizational and time management skills
· CIPD certification is an advantage
· BSc/BA in Business Administration or relevant field; additional education in Human Resource Management is an asset
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree or post-graduate certificate in Human
