Our client is a General Contractor/a leading provider of full construction services in Canada that specializes in industrial and commercial projects. They are in the market to hire a junior accountant. Someone either out of school with a Commerce or Accounting Degree or someone with 1-3 years experience.
Junior Accountant Duties and Responsibilities
Billing/Accounts Receivable
- ensure all progress billings are invoiced accurately and in a timely manner.
- ensure all Client invoices are paid in accordance within the terms of payment.
- review the AR listing and to follow-up on all the overdue accounts
- issue Statutory Declaration and WSIB certificate to Client when payment is received.
- ensure all the ongoing jobs Contract and Extras are all billed monthly.
- assists the department at year end audit.
- Payable
- ensure all invoices from the Trades/Suppliers are approved and processed in Jonas’s software.
- ensure all Trade invoices are paid in accordance within the terms of payment.
- ensure that each payment is supported with an updated AP Worksheet, Approved invoice, Purchase Order, Statutory Declaration, Insurance certificate and WSIB Certificate.
To ensure that all the Trade statements of account are reconciled on an ongoing basis.
- reconcile and pay the company visa cards.
- assist the department at year end audit.
Payroll
- ensure employees (office, site, unions staff) and Contractors are paid accurately and in a timely manner.
- set up new employees in the system and prepare the commencement packages.
- set up and modify union payroll agreements in the system.
- ensure all payroll taxes and remittances (Payroll Taxes, CPP, EI, WSIB, Health premiums, RRSP contributions etc.) are paid accurately and in a timely manner.
- ensure that the Group Life Insurance information are kept up-to-date.
- ensure that the vacation/sick-leave records are kept up to date.
- ensure that all reimbursement expenses (mileage & general purchased) are reallocated to the proper accounts.
- keep all staff records (Human resource files and personnel information) strictly confidential
- reconcile and allocate Telephone bill expense.
- assist the department at year end audit.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $60,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
