Job Description
This is a full-time on-site role located in Georgetown, ON. The Compliance Accountant, reporting to the Vice President of Sales, is responsible for investigating, analyzing, and negotiating fines related to post-production activities and logistics shipments. The Compliance Accountant will also work with cross-functional teams to provide insights to improve operational efficiencies and reduce the costs of fines.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Create and maintain the database for fines, root causes of fines, and resolutions to disputes.
- Working with various departments, generate weekly reports for senior leadership to review on cost, type, cause, and level of fines.
- Utilize previous enforcement and risk mitigation experience to develop and implement strategies that enhance compliance measures.
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments, identifying potential areas of non-compliance and recommending corrective actions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish and maintain effective compliance processes and improve operations.
- Analyze and interpret vendors’/suppliers’ logistics policies.
- Investigate and respond to compliance-related incidents, ensuring swift resolution and implementing preventive measures.
- Provide financial reporting support to Operations, Sales, and Logistics.
- Other projects and duties as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in cost/compliance accounting or related field.
- Strong understanding of dispute resolution
- Experience in data analysis and database management.
- Proven track record of taking ownership and driving results.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve issues.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external customers.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Retail portals.
