Great opportunity for a seasoned finance professional to help guide a very successful real estate group of companies through a period of growth and expansion. Reporting to the Vice President, you will oversee all accounting functions including financial reporting, analysis, and forecasts in addition to providing financial advice to the executive group.
The Director of Finance is directly responsible for the establishment of financial policies, procedures, controls and reporting systems and shall be responsible for the supervision of general accounting, accounts receivable, collection and payroll. The Director of Finance shall also ensure legal and regulatory compliance for all accounting and financial reporting functions.
Key responsibilities include:
Provide strategic leadership of the Corporate Finance & Accounting teams for Canada and United States
Provide oversight of the Treasury function including cash-flow forecasts, liquidity management and external financing needs
Provide leadership to management with respect to business planning, budgeting and forecasting and develop sound business models to support sound business decisions to meet long-term growth objectives
Develop and implement appropriate accounting and financial reporting systems and processes
Develop, monitor and enforce policies and procedures relevant to accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and project tracking
Manage all aspects of general accounting functions including accounts payable, receivables, collections, payroll, bank reconciliations, and fixed assets
Hire, develop, coach and mentor accounting staff to be future leaders
Ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies and government remittances for both Canada and United States
Monitor the effectiveness of internal controls and processes as they pertain to financial reporting and cash management
Prepare reports and evaluations for individual projects
Complete month end reporting and prepare financial statements.
Present financial statements on a timely basis to the Executive Leadership Team.
Prepare yearend financial statements and provide support to external auditors during yearend review and compilation engagements for all companies for both Canada and United States
Monitor legislation, regulations, policies, and procedures applicable to financial reporting and operations, and ensure compliance in both Canada and United States
Investigate variances in budgets, reporting, internal controls, and general accounting; deploy measures to resolve variances
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
CPA designation REQUIRED
Minimum of 10 years’ experience within a small to medium organization, preferably with real estate accounting experience
Extensive, experience and knowledge in dealing with accounting systems, budgets, internal controls, business planning, and real estate asset management
Advanced proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
