Kingdom Construction Limited specializes in municipal infrastructure construction. Our construction teams consist of dedicated project managers, proficient office personnel, project superintendents and supervisory staff, all supporting teams of in-house civil and mechanical disciplines. Kingdom Construction is a small family-run company and we are currently looking for an Accounting Manager to join our Accounting Team at our head office in Ayr, Ontario for long-term permanent employment.
Working closely with the President and VP of Operations as well as other members of the leadership team, the Accounting Manager is responsible for the accounting department and all accounting activities for Kingdom Construction.
Key Accountabilities:
- Execute consistent accounting policies, controls, and procedures, adhering to policies and procedures
- Determine revenue potential for monthly financial statements working with the project managers and operations team, and providing cash flow analysis to the project team.
- Calculate and report on unearned revenue potential monthly.
- Responsible for the account analysis and financial statements on a monthly basis
- Responsible for regular GL and AR entries and adjustments as required.
- Post monthly journal entries for miscellaneous accruals, salary reallocations and reallocating prepaid expenses.
- Complete and file various forms and requests for information for both Federal and Provincial governments, bonding company, insurance company, pension commission, new suppliers and other regulatory bodies.
- Address any AP/AR issues that arise on an as-needed basis
- Review daily banking and credit card transactions
- Meet with the President weekly to review the overall financial position of the company
- Completion of monthly, quarterly, and year-end accounting duties as required
- Communicates with external auditors re planning year-end audit, preparation of audit working papers for them, responding to requests for information and executing tax planning strategies
- Updates records, prepares dividend cheques, prepares T5’s and communicates with bankers in connection with the employee share purchase plan.
Education and Experience:
- Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) required
- A minimum of 3 years of accounting experience in a managerial position, preferably as an Accounting Manager within the Construction Industry
- A minimum of 3 years of experience with a General or Civil Contractor is preferred.
- Strong technical knowledge of Canadian accounting standards and best practices
- Proficient in MS Word/Excel, accounting systems such as Jonas and other computer systems essential
- Experience in Cash-Flow Analysis and Forecast is a requirement
- Understanding and experience with bank investments is an asset
- Experience with GL/AR entries as an accounting function is a requirement
