The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the Supervisor, Accounting this role is responsible for the processing of all invoices received for payment, and for providing administrative support to the Division. As the Clerk, you will perform the following duties, including but not limited to:
- Receive and process approximately 400 accounts payable invoices a week
- Verify extensions, sales tax, purchase orders, packing slips, and departmental approval, prior to the release of invoices for payment; reconcile posted accounts to the Payable Distribution Journals/or equivalent report prior to the issuance of cheques/electronic fund transfers
- Reconcile payments against monthly statements received from vendors
- Maintain accounts payable documentation files
- Prepare accounts payable cheques/electronic funds transfers for appropriate suppliers
- Obtain additional approvals and signatures for all A/P cheques/electronic funds transfers in excess of established limits
- Process US bank/or equivalent credit card statements and utility expense reports
The Ideal Candidate
We are seeking an accounting administrative professional with education, training and/or knowledge in the above, normally acquired from a post-secondary diploma in Accounting or closely related field. Our ideal candidate has 1 - 3 years related experience in accounting, preferably in a municipal setting.
The ideal candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain, clarify and persuade to gain approval. The incumbent will have exceptional organizational skills with considerable attention to detail to avoid errors and the ability to meet deadlines and superior interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
The successful candidate for this role will be required to work a flexible schedule, including in the office and remotely.
This position offers a salary range of $54,378.20 - $66,640.46 plus a competitive benefit package.
