Position: Accounting Assistant
Duties:
- Apply your knowledge of accounting and financial theories, tax regulations, and resources to support financial processes.
- Manage end-to-end payroll processing for 100+ employees, deductions, and related transactions, including vacation pay accrual records.
- Ensure compliance and precision in preparing records of employment.
- Process accounts payable and receivable transactions with accuracy, timeliness, and effective communication with vendors.
- Assist in accrual accounting and proper expense recording.
- Expertly handle reconciliations, including supplier statements, credit cards, accounts receivable ledger, bank accounts, and general ledger.
- Utilize Sage 50 and other accounting software for precise transaction recording.
- Support financial statement and report preparation.
- Process accruals, prepayments, and subsequent journals to maintain accurate financial records.
- Provide analytical support for inventory management and cost accounting.
- Participate in year-end close and annual audit phases.
- Collaborate with other departments to gather necessary information for financial analysis.
- Stay updated on evolving accounting regulations and best practices.
- Collaborate with the administrative team by providing support as needed.
Requirements:
- Post-secondary education in accounting or related field
- Minimum 2 years accounting experience within BC/Canada
- Proficiency in utilizing Sage 50 accounting software
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Suite, particularly with Excel
- Strong English language proficiency, both in written and verbal communication
- Mandarin and/or Cantonese language ability considered a strong asset
- Comfortable working in a small office environment
