We are looking for a full-time Specialist, Accounts Receivable. As a key member of the Collections team, you will be reporting to the Team Leader, Accounts Receivable. In this role, you will build relationships with lawyers, clients and firm members to ensure timely billing of our WIP and collection of accounts receivable.
Scope of Responsibilities:
- Build relationships with lawyers and develop insight and knowledge of lawyers’ practices and billing cycles
- Work with lawyers, firm members and management to ensure timely billing of WIP
- Proactively meet with lawyers to review and address aged WIP and accounts receivable
- Identify high risk clients and work with Team Leader, Accounts Receivable and management to minimize exposure risk
- Accountability for meeting the billing and collections targets and providing analysis and explanation of unavoidable delays in billings and collections
- Communicate with clients with tact and diplomacy to resolve payment delays and escalate unresolved issues appropriately
- Make recommendations to resolve queries with aging WIP and accounts receivable
- Prepare financial analysis for special billing and payment arrangements
- Prepare and send out specific packages to clients
- Prepare accounts receivable reconciliations
- Maintain status notes on all systems
- Complete special projects as requested, and other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- A college diploma or equivalency
- A designation is not required
- 3-5 years of relevant experience within a professional services environment
- Working knowledge in MS Office applications including Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and Adobe
- Proficiency in accounting software, including ARCS and 3E preferred.
- Well-versed in industry standard credit and collection policies, systems and controls;
- Excellent written & verbal communication skills
- A team player who takes initiative and works well independently
- Demonstrates excellent client service and ability build and maintain client relationships
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to be effective and prioritize and meet deadlines
- Discretion, confidentiality and attention to detail are essential
