Payroll Administrator (Full-Time) - Hamilton, ON
Durham Radio Inc. is an independent broadcasting company that owns and operates several local radio stations across Canada. We have an immediate opening and are currently looking for a Full-Time Payroll Administrator to assist with processing payroll for our multiple location-based business with a centralized payroll system consisting of hourly, salaried and commissioned employees.
Reporting to the Director of Corporate Accounting & Administration, you will be responsible for timely and accurate reporting of payroll data for all employees. This includes gathering, preparing and entering data into the system. Other responsibilities include journal entry preparation, reconciliations, and other various accounting functions. Exceptional customer service skills, integrity and strong attention to detail are crucial for this role. Outstanding interpersonal skills are also considered a key component for this position.
Requirements
- Canadian payroll certification or equivalent
- Minimum 1-2 years experience processing payroll
- Intermediate skills in Excel
- Knowledge and experience using Payworks would be considered an asset
Skills & Abilities
- Solid understanding of payroll processes and relevant federal legislation, source deduction and government remittance procedures
- Proven ability to meet all deadlines and prioritize assigned workload, while simultaneously managing multiple tasks to completion
- Data entry and verification of employee payroll information; new hires, rehires, status changes, terminations, changes in personal and banking information
- Maintain confidentiality with regards to employee data and the security of personal and company payroll information
- Prepare and process year-end payroll, report and file all forms in accordance with all government agency deadlines
- Administration and maintenance of the company’s Group Insurance Benefits Plan
- Effective communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Self-starter, works well with minimum supervision
- Provide back-up for other administrators in the shared service centre as required
- Assist with accounting functions supporting the general ledger and reconciliations
- Maintain flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with evolving systems and procedures
This is a Full-Time position, Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm, operating from our office/studios located in Hamilton ON. The successful candidate may have the option to adopt a hybrid remote/office work week schedule after 12 months of continuous employment.
