Reporting to the Integrated Accounting Supervisor, the incumbent will be responsible for the following functions:
- Perform integrated payroll functions for both the CMHA Lambton Kent and Chatham Kent Community Health Centre.
- Provide backup coverage for members of the finance team as required.
- Ensure accurate time entries and transmission of payroll within deadlines.
- Ensure critical payments related to payroll source deductions (income tax, CPP, and EI) are made in accordance with provincial and/or federal guidelines and threshold deadlines.
- Calculate and remit Employer Health Tax and WSIB monthly premiums.
- Complete government reconciliation and statistical reports where applicable.
- Review and reconcile employee healthcare benefits premiums, shared cost, and prepare cheque requests for benefit carriers.
- Complete Registered Pension Plan payroll deductions and employer payments (HOOPP both sites), for monthly submissions; prepare annual reporting statements.
- Prepare and reconcile T4s, T4As, and other various year end reporting documents relating to government remittances and annual reconciliation.
- Prepare fiscal year-end vacation accrual reports and journal entries for finance to ensure liabilities are accurate.
- Ensure all wage changes are made accurately and in a timely manner in accordance with employee contracts and/or collective agreements; calculate retro-active payments if applicable.
- Other duties as assigned; includes payroll functions, support to the finance team and/or human resources including payroll related journal entries to GP and support for quarterly reporting as it relates to payroll amounts and statistics and year end reconciliations.
Qualifications:
- Certified Payroll Compliance Professional (through the National Payroll Institute)
- Post-secondary education in Accounting or Related Business with a minimum of 2 years of experience working in the field.
- Experience in the public or non-profit sector will be considered an asset.
- Valid Ontario Driver’s License and access to a car.

- Ability to ensure accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment and in collaboration with Finance and Human Resources.
- Be well-organized and can maintain accuracy in a detailed environment.
- High degree of proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and experience in using the internet for resource information searches.
Hours of Work: 35 hours/week. Flexibility is required to meet the position requirements.
Salary Range: Commensurate with experience, inclusive of HOOPP.
