Position Overview:
We are currently looking to hire an experienced Financial Controller to undertake all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, development of internal control policies and procedures, financial risk management and take our talented and growing accounting and administrative team to the next level of excellence. The ideal candidate will provide direction and leadership to the accounting department team. Will provide expertise and advise on all financial aspects of operations. Will be proficient with financial reporting and building tools for better financial analysis and evaluation. Will hold high standards of professional conduct and presence. Will have strong financial vision and understanding of business objectives and an ability to communicate both at a high level. Will have the ability, passion and self-motivation to grow along with the company. This role will report to the CFO and will manage accounting team consisting of Book Keeper and a Purchasing Clerk, as well as maintaining liaison with all other departments and employees.
Key Responsibilities
· Manage all finance and accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, etc.
· Ensure current financial team has the skills to perform their duties and efficient protocols are in place.
· Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
· Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
· Update policies and keep it current
· Enhance access and reporting for financial data by ensuring effectiveness of accounting operations and flow of financial information
· Coordinate and direct preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances.
· Provide reports to CFO (Such as Cash Flow Forecast, AR and AP review, Quarterly Sales Analysis, Monthly expenses, Sales by revenue stream, Cost analysis, etc.)
· Preparation of regulatory reporting, researching and managing technical accounting issues to ensure compliance
· Responsible for month-end, quarter end and year-end close process including annual review and audit
· Banking access, records and reconciliation
· Manage capital lease schedules and records. Communicate with leasing companies and responsible for buy out option notifications.
· Prepare HST filing by screening accounts and transactions and finalizing the numbers.
· Submits Payroll and HST remittances via electronic tax-filing system
· Keeps GL in order, reconciles accounts to make sure it matches actual balances (payroll liabilities, HST, loans, leases), etc.
· Managing multiple GL’s
· Additional controller duties as necessary
Skills and Qualifications
· Proven working experience as a Financial Controller
· 5+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience
· Advanced degree in Accounting
· Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
· Experience with creating financial statements
· Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process
· Proficient with Quick Books Online as a user and administrator
· Experience with payroll administration
· Excellent Microsoft Excel Suite Skills
· Excellent interpersonal and verbal / written communication skills
· Ability to implement process and standards within a group setting
· Ability and experience to coach and guide existing employees as well as recruit and on-board additional / new team members
Additional Beneficial Skills
· Knowledge of ESA and implementation
· Prior experience with unionized work environment, managing union dies reporting, management of benefits, etc.

Pay: $100,000.00-$125,000.00 per year
