Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Tasks
- Work closely with dispatch to understand daily operations to develop daily and monthly operational reporting
- Develop Key Performance Indicators for daily and monthly reporting, such as:
1. Expected hours, tonnes, cubes and revenue per truck, per day
2. Expected fuel as a % of revenue on each job
3. Review fuel efficiency per unit
4. Expected wages as a % of revenue on each job
5. Projected revenue per month, by customer and unit, adjusted for downtime, CVIP’s
6. Analysis of accounts receivable, delayed ticket entry and expected cash flows based of various payment terms
7. Customer concentration reporting
8. Driver turnover rate
9. Review of non-billable trucking hours or km’s, deadhead analysis
10. Analysis of loading and unloading efficiency
11. Analysis of gross margin per truck or per job to identify cube or tonne rates that need to be corrected
12. Review of telematics and safety incidents to provide incidents per million KM
13. Other KPI’s as required by management
- Participation in bid preparation, competitive market analysis
- Review efficiency and profitability of transitioning to Axon or other ERP, accounting system
- Assists in monthly contract verifications for vendor compliance.
- Assists in preparing various financial and administrative reports.
- Reconcile budgeted revenue and gross margin against actual month end reporting
- Work with team to develop new procedures to streamline processes.
- Contributes to unit goals by accomplishing related duties as required.
- Review of LB mobile ticket and document application and seek to improve document flow
- Backs up other office staff.
- Performs related duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· Knowledge of transportation accounting principles and practices.
· Knowledge of laws, general statutes, rules, and regulations governing specific municipal accounting tasks.
· Knowledge of the application of information technology including specialized financial software, spreadsheets, and databases and use of peripherals
· Ability to compile, evaluate, and reconcile a variety of accounting records and reports as well as the ability to make arithmetic computations accurately and with reasonable speed.
· Ability to perform a variety of fiscal or accounting functions and to change priorities quickly and maintain accuracy level.
· Ability to develop and maintain working relationships with a variety of people, including vendors, general public, program participants, coworkers and supervisors.
· Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written forms and be able to set priorities and to manage time effectively for self and others as appropriate.
· Ability to meet deadlines.
· Accuracy in data entry and work.
