We’re a Montreal-based online retailer of premium quality essentials, known particularly so far for our men’s boxer briefs. We have been aggressively growing since launching in 2021, and the brand is truly at a turning point to becoming a household name in Canada, and already growing in parallel in the US market.
Who is Manmade looking for?
An experienced CPA based in Montreal that is looking for an exciting change to take on a unique challenge with tremendous opportunity to grow within a thriving and financially healthy organization.
Ideally you have about 10+ years experience in FP&A, and ideally within a related industry (i.e. apparel, retail, and/or ecommerce).
As the Director of Finance, you will be working directly with the 4 Co-Founders of the Company. You will also have the opportunity to build the accounting team, and establish processes and structure.
Is this for you?
We are growing so rapidly so things are changing so quickly and an in-house presence is required. At this time, we can’t accommodate any “remote” or “hybrid” type of work arrangements. We do have flexibility with working hours, and we are understanding to work things out with your personal / family commitments.
You should be resourceful, and an intrapreneur. In other words, you will have the flexibility to execute with autonomy and minimal oversight. You shouldn’t be someone who is afraid to get in the trenches and do the nitty gritty things yourself for a period of time until we get to the point where it makes sense to hire someone to do it for you.

Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement financial strategies to support the company's goals and objectives.
- Create long-term financial plans and forecasts, ensuring alignment with business strategies.
- Oversee the preparation and management of the budget.
- Monitor financial performance against the budget, identifying and addressing variances.
- Prepare and present regular financial reports to senior management and stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and standards.
- Manage the company’s cash flow to ensure liquidity and financial stability.
- Optimize cash management strategies, including investment and financing decisions.
- Identify, assess, and manage financial risks.
- Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard the company’s assets.
- Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Provide guidance and support for professional development.
- Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights and support business decisions.
- Communicate financial performance and strategic recommendations to stakeholders.
- Analyze operational costs and implement measures to improve efficiency and reduce expenses.
- Evaluate financial performance and identify opportunities for cost savings.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations and financial reporting standards.
- Coordinate with external auditors and manage audit processes.
- Oversee the implementation and maintenance of financial systems and technologies.
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. CPA preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in finance or accounting, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Experience in the retail or e-commerce industry is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems.
- Strong knowledge of financial regulations and accounting principles.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop a high-performing team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly and effectively.
