Avisar Chartered Professional Accountants (“Avisar”), an accounting and business advisory firm in Langley, BC, is looking for an accomplished CPA with prior management experience to join our team as a Manager. As a Manager at Avisar, you will collaborate with Engagement Partners to provide assurance, tax, and advisory services, focusing on building long-term client relationships. You will independently manage client accounts, ensuring timely completion and billing of engagements, delivering high-quality work, and providing proactive advice. You will also lead and supervise accounting staff, fostering excellence in service delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Leading the Team
· Direct, supervise, and oversee the work of accounting staff on client projects.
· Review junior staff work, providing constructive feedback and mentorship.
· Set priorities and schedules based on client workflow and deadlines.
· Manage relationships by recognizing and responding to individual work styles and strengths.
· Participate in quality management, mentoring, and technical training of staff.
· Conduct performance reviews and provide career development guidance.
Planning and executing client deliverables
· Manage a portfolio of clients, understanding their business risks and delivering added value.
· Strategize, plan, and execute assurance, tax, and advisory engagements.
· Maintain knowledge of professional standards, laws, regulations, and corporate governance.
· Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and local tax laws.
· Establish and build strong client relationships through clear, timely communication.
Continuous learning
· Participate in educational seminars and stay updated on Avisar’s policies and procedures.
· Maintain professional designations and current knowledge of information technology.
· Identify personal training needs and pursue goals set in the Professional Development Plan.
Developing the business
· Collaborate with the Management team to enhance firm performance and achieve goals.
· Contribute to strategic planning and the development of new ideas to improve processes.
· Promote the firm’s expertise and services to generate new business opportunities.
· Network within the local business community and prepare competitive proposals.
Key Qualifications:
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.
- At least 2 years experience as a manager with a public accounting firm, working with owner-managed clients.
- Solid working knowledge and experience working with Canadian Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE) and related technical literature.
- Knowledge of Canadian Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE) and Not-For-Profit Organizations (ASNPO) is an asset.
- Completion of the CPA In-Depth Tax Course or similar tax training is an asset.
- Strong understanding of business accounting, management, and practice development.
- Entrepreneurial, enterprising, curious, and ambitious.
- Trusted advisor with a history of providing comprehensive accounting and tax services.
- Proficient in utilizing technology to enhance productivity and efficiency.
- Strong people management, relationship-building, and leadership skills.
- Committed to maintaining a positive and respectful work environment.
- Respectful of the importance of attendance, punctuality and accurate timekeeping, and the impact it has on the rest of the team.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this position is expected to be $90,000 to $105,000 per annum and will be based on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate
- 37.5 hour work week, with flexible scheduling options
- Overtime hours banked on an hour for hour basis, for all staff.
- 4 weeks paid vacation, available in your first year of employment

- Statutory Holidays – Twelve days (Boxing Day is recognized by Avisar although it is an optional holiday in BC)
