Looking for Experienced Payroll and accounting specialist
Location: Mississauga, Kennedy & Britannia
Pay Rate: $30-$35+ per hour DOE.
Direct hire with client – clean criminal record search and professional reference required*
JOB DUTIES
· Collecting and verifying time attendance
· Process bi-weekly payroll for all salaried and hourly employees, as well as commission and bonus payments.
· Compile payroll data such as garnishments, vacation time, insurance, and other deductions.
· Reconcile payroll totals and ensure all deductions and health benefit plans are made and remitted as scheduled.
· Respond to employee and government agency inquiries regarding payroll.
· Prepare payroll-related fillings and supporting documentation, such as year-end tax statements, pension, records of employment and other statements.
· Process accounting payroll entries.
· Process month-end cycle and reconciliations.
· Maintain accurate, up-to-date, and complete personnel records.
· Maintain database and files for certified and classified substitute employees.
· Prepare and post notices and advertisements.
· Participate in selection panels to evaluate candidates.
· Participate in professional development activities to improve knowledge and skills
JOB REQUIREMENTS
· Degree or diploma in a related field
· Three years of related experience
· PCP/ PLP designation considered an asset.
· Experience in payroll software, preferably ez pay.
· Strong knowledge of applicable employment and health and safety legislation
· Ability to read and interpret legislation.
· Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
· Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures.
· Ability to prioritize and manage conflicting demands.
· Ability to work individually as well as part of a team.
· Demonstrated time management skills.
· High flexibility with strong interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse environment.
· High level of integrity and work ethic
· Knowledge of and exposure to a range of human resources activities, including the following: recruitment, orientation, compensation
· and benefits, performance management, employee relations, and employee communications
· Strong sense of ethics and the ability to handle sensitive or private information with tact and discretion.
