Key Responsibilities as Bookkeeper
· Execute full cycle accounting processes, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and expense management.
· Conduct monthly bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.
· Perform short-term cash flow forecasting to aid in financial planning and decision-making.
- Continuously monitor and ensure compliance with financial regulations and suggest improvements to financial processes.
- Provide support for timely financial reporting, including month-end, quarterly, and year-end income statements, balance sheets, and the closing of sub-ledgers in the G/L.
- Maintain books of account (including but not limited to preparing cheques, coding and posting invoices, preparing deposits, journal entries, and reconciliations)
- Oversee issuing of cheques / payment of invoices
- Assist in the preparation of monthly / quarterly financial statements for all Liahona entities
- Liaise with other staff and support them in book-keeping needs related to their program areas
- Oversee accounts receivable, borrower payments and Issuer commissions
- Assist in updating and maintaining policy and procedure documentation
Qualifications:
- College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to less than 2 years in Bookkeeping/Accounting or related program of study.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience
- Experience in the wealth management or financial industry would be a strong asset
- Ability to apply general accounting principles and exercising high levels of attention to detail.
- Detail-oriented approach with the ability to multi-task and manage large volumes of data
- Deadline orientated and adjust quickly to changes in priority of work
- Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal and customer service skills
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Excellent organizational, time management, and prioritizing skills.
- Ability to work independently and to adapt to a fast-changing environment.
- Proficiency using QuickBooks Online/ QuickBooks Desktop or similar accounting software
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, with strong intermediate Excel skills
- Proven ability to maintain confidentiality
